1990 Toyota Pickup DLX Surging Issue

I have a 1990 Toyota Pickup Deluxe, I recently ran it about a mile without the oil cap on, and noticed oil splattered all over the engine,
(The truck ran fine, filled oil back up drove it for the last few weeks, and I finally got a day off to clean the engine.

22re engine btw - about 150k miles on it.

So i decided to wash the engine, well it starts, and idles great.

I will try accelerate with a half throttle, and it surges.
I can go 1st gear, slowly, then go to second gear, n third, but if i try to go more than half throttle it surges.

I was thinkin water/condensation on the distributor, so i took that off n cleaned the inside with a dry ppaer twoels

any other ideas?

Throttle sensor is very close to the oil cap. It may have gotten oil soaked through the seals. May have gotten cleaner inside. Cleaner might have forced a mix of both inside.

In no particular order. Check for vacuum leaks, failed sensors, and air in the coolant system.

PS describe the surge, are the rpm surging up or downwards.
