1989 landcruiser oil leak

Hello everyone! I recently noticed i was losing alot of oil while engine running. i had figured to replace valve cover gasket but after a closer look i foound a small hole on sidewall between spaces where spark plugs enter-the hole is factory made-not sure if i am mssing a component? i recently had oil changed-everything was working fine before, but now...
i have tried to find a diagram showing what should go here but have found nothing. any help would be appreciated
thanks in advance
