1987 toyota transmission swap?

I just bought my first older toyota 4x4 truck with the 22re engine and a 5 speed manual trans. the trans is noisy and a friend has a 1988 toyota 4 runner with a 3.0 v6 with a good tranny will this fit my truck??

No, unless you are able to get your hands on a r151f bellhousing (extremely rare)
You are better off finding a tranny from another four banger.

How can i tell what trans my truck has W OR G Series???

also take a look at this: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/

In short the carb 22r got the G trans and the 22re got the W trans.

Why do you say that? It's pretty much the most common 4cyl trans out there.

no they wont work when i bought my truck i knew the trany was shot but the guy had another one in the bed well it was for a v6 the difrence was about 2 inches i swaped mine at a junkyard plus a little cash for another one

Moto One: ive got one! its in an 87 4x4 22RE. I live in Mississippi if your interested. also have the matching transfer case FYI
