1985 Trans Problems

Today I bought a 85 4x4 pickup for $1000. It was a pretty good deal but something is up with the transmission. It will not got into 4th gear while moving. I'm assuming the synchro is bad and I should just get another transmission but is there anything I can do to avoid this? I was going to buy a shifter bushing from Marlin Crawler hoping it would fix the problem. Any suggestions?

Do any other gears have problems? Does it go into fourth with the engine off and the truck stopped? If the engine is running with the clutch out and the trans in neutral, and you clutch in and immediately try to put it into fourth, does it go? The answers will determine what is likely the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up getting another tranmission.
