No need to apologize - if people can't make sense out of your efforts then they probably shouldn't post up anyway.

Just do your best, we're all here to help.

hey nice deal man! im a toyota newbie too, just got an 86 and almost in the exact same boat with the e-brake thing. also looked at a few other yotas before getting this one and they had the same problem too! what is it with the curse of the yota ebrake??

anyway im wondering if you know what size the tires are? im dont know enough to tell by looking.
but am i the only one that actually likes the look of high lift and small(er) tires?

jeez now i feel like a douche....

i sincerely apologize coolfool!!!!

i remember now, earlier during the day i posted that, my Computers in Modern Society class got a talk by the Dean of my College (NSU) because a lot of the people that wrote the research proposal didn't use proper grammar and spelling (also a pet peeve of mine.) and it just set me off that sophomores and juniors in college were still spelling "u" instead of "you" and similar stuff.

once again, i sincerely apologize!

Thanks for posting this.

I am the exact same way with grammar and spelling.
I'll bust out a "gonna" or "kinda" every now and then but other than that, proper grammar and spelling is ingrained in my head.

now i am by no means a perfect example, i don't always capitalize everything i should..and i have run-ons sometimes as well.

however when i do a document for my class and use Word2007...i always run a spell check/grammar check and read it myself.

Keep posting questions CoolFool..we're here to help

I am going to do a oil change but id like sum input on brand and type. I think im going to go with 10w50 but for the type not sure. Should I go with synthetic oil are like reg high mileage oil. I have been told in the past if its a older engine its not good to switch to synthetic. But i plan on keeping this truck for a long time so what should i do this is a 22r.

This topic is all based on personal opinions.

I have always run Mobile 1 conventional oil and been perfectly fine.
I also change my oil every 3,000 miles on the dot or a little before but I'm just a freak like that.

I honestly don't know how much of a difference the "High-Mileage" oils make, if they're not too much more than a standard quart of conventional then go for it.

As for filters, I have always run OEM and been just fine.
Purolator's are known to be pretty awesome but I have faith in the Toyota engineers that they would design a filter to work just fine.

Any other work been done on it? Plugs? Air filter? Throttle body cleaning?

If you can, keep an eye on them as they do the checking. As in stand outside bay. I loathe someone else TOUCHING my truck. I know its necessary, watch them like a hawk.

Their high man. I completely re-did my breaks. i mean everything except new lines and drums.

I paid less than 200 for parts and did it in a weekend. Just read up on it and tear into with a buddy or something.

Congrats on the truck. I was searching craigslist and came across it. ha. the brakes should be top priority. You got a sliding window probably and winters coming up. I went all summer without a/c its not fun but its never made it to my top priority list. my e-brake was stuck. i got it free when i was changing the rear shoes a while back. from what i can remember someone yanked on the e-brake while i sprayed break cleaner or wd-40. if your goin to do it your self you can P.M. me ill explain it better. good luck with the truck.

lol cool find ya i bought it from the guy that bought it from him and he fixed the timing chain and put in a new head gasket. From what the guy told me that i bought it from the original owner in that craiglist ad tryed to put a 22r small block timing chane on it and this is the 22r long block lol. Right now my biggest problem is i don't have any friends that work on trucks are cars and i no it will make a big difference in parts its only like a 500 job max. So like i said i need help so any local fl hit me up

Fool - what exactly is the problem with your brakes? If your calipers are not frozen, then you just need new pads and maybe bleed them. If you need new calipers, that's not a major job. If it needs new rotors, then that's quite a bit more work. $1000 seems pretty high to me. I'd focus on getting those front brakes up to par, then tackle the rear.
