I have a 1982 toyota pickup I runs great But when it gets to running temperature and I turn it off it idles rough
when I go to restart it I runs rough for about 3 or 4 minutes

This problem, typical of early 80s Toyota pickups, most often comes from the carburetor or ignition: when hot, the gasoline can boil (vapor lock), the automatic choke can remain partially active, or an air leak can occur, which makes the idle unstable after stopping and causes poor operation for a few minutes upon restarting.
