1980 L43 shifter removal

I am trying to figure out how to pull the shifter out of my 1980 Toyota 4x4. It is a side mount 4speed L43 transmission and I am getting different info on how to remove it. Some say that I need to push down and twist counter clockwise to remove the retainer clip. But som others say that I need to jus remove the four bolts on the Side and then just pull the whole shifter out. I am doing all of this so I can replace the shifter bushing. I am not even sure if this model has a shifter seat or not. Can someone please help? I really appreciate it.
