04 Taco - clutch hydro system issues
Hi. New to the forum, but need some help.
Long story, but lets start with an abbreviated version. We flushed out the clutch hydraulics (there was even some black chunky crap in there). Worked ok in AM but on way back home hardly had any clutch pedal. Limped it home via syncing gears via rpms.
Tried bleeding with hand operated mityvac. No joy. It may be worn out and not able to create much vacuum. Anyway, bought a new master cylinder and tried bleeding the system from slave via pressing (not pumping) the pedal. Now we have another problem because the pedal doesn't even return to the top of the stroke....just partway. Also, seems loose in upper 1/3 of stroke.
A Toyota mechanic friend of mine said bleed master cylinder separate from the system. How the heck do you do that? Does he mean just put a pan under it and push fluid out via pedal till its purged of air then, while holding pedal down, connect hydro line to slave and then bleed from slave?
When bleeding system do I need to pump the pedal a few times ala brake bleeding?
Thanks for any ideas.
