What kind of traction control do I have? 2006 V8 4Runner
I have a question for this group. Does anyone know the differences in traction control units from year model to year model on the 4Runners?
I have a 2006 V8 4Runner with freaking traction control. :-) Is this the same one that's on the new FJs....the ATRAC? Supposedly that's the "good" kind of traction control. I have friends with earlier model 4Runners with traction control and they can disable theirs by locking the center diff (whatever that really means) :-)
I cannot disable by traction control at all. Not in 2H or 4H or 4L or with or without the center diff engaged. It's always on. I did a little test on a 60 degree slope that was covered in leaves and light snow. The good news is that I made it up the hill each time in any every gear configuration but the traction control came on every time. So, with that info...anyone know what I have?? Is it the regular traction control or is it the new ATRAC?
