tire question

I am looking to get a new set of 265/70/17s with AT usage for my 07 4Runner SR5. I see a lot of praise for Nitto Terra Grapplers, but it seems they are only "P" rated and "E" in that tire size. I would like to avoid "E" rated as it seems the ride would suffer quite drastically (on a 4Runner).

I do some towing from time to time (a 2900lb boat + trailer), though not over long distances. Any ideas how a P rated Nittos will hold up ?

If not, it looks like I need to go BFG AT KO (LT "C" rated), or maybe something else? I'd rather not go to "E" rated, and there doesn't seem to be "D" rated in this size. Any other ideas ?

I've been having the same dilemma with my '07 Tacoma with that same size. I have pretty much decided to go with Mickey Thompson MTZ's, they are an E rated tire but I don't think they will be too bad.

If I didn't get those I would go with the BFG A/T in the C rating. The Nitto Terra Grapplers are awesome tires but I have heard of too many people having mileage issues with theirs. If I'm going to get a tire that doesn't all that long, I'm going with a Mud Terrain...what mud terrain, the only kind...MTZ's.

I think the revos has the same issue (P or LT-E, no C or D). Are they tougher in some way?

With the P-rated, I am still within the load limits, but I've always towed with larger rigs until recently, so I have no experience with the tire issue.

don't get a p rated tire...just step up an inch in size and go with a d-rated tire...

Get the Revo's if they are within load range. They are a great tire.
