If it's busted where I say it is, you would have to pull the spindle by disconnecting the lower ball joint and also removing the hub nut so you can separate the CV assembly from the hub. then pull the whole CV assembly. If it's busted at the stub, then more than likely that will be stuck inside the diff, which means pulliing the diff and pulling the cover to get access to the broken end of the stub.

I think keisur is right on the $.
I'd check to see if there's any play in the inner tripod cup (the 2nd image). If there is play then you probably broke the shaft that goes into your front diff which is where the oil is from.
You'll need to replace the inner axle. Not sure how much but if new from toyota it's $. I don't think you can do this yourself so you'll have to have someone do it which will be $ too
Now how in the world you did that I have no clue since you're not locked up front.

Spinning tires break parts.
If you kept the outer joint, inner joint, and the shaft connecting them in tact while busting a piece that has complete splined engagement, you are officially the biggest yahoo out there.
Lockers keep things alive and then get you on harder trails to kill stuff.

Yes, I know that about spinning tires ... I didn't spin the tires at all.
This isn't something I did on purpose or planned. I have a very moderate lift, I always have the sway bar attached, I was not spinning the tires, and I sure as hell didn't go out there thinking "oh hey, I'd like to do something stupid today and break a major part on my truck and then post about it to get help so people can kick me while I'm down!" I was trying to be very careful.

Seriously, you don't plan on breaking things, it happens by accident, remember that term, "by accident". That is definitely gear oil on there and I think Keisur is right on the money. Unless somehow you managed to just pop it out a little bit without snapping anything...either way, a cv isn't hard to change, although fishing out busted parts could be.

Yeah, but for the 4th gen., I really don't think there are that many aftermarket parts that would be any stronger/better.

Yeah, CV axles suck. I wish there was a way to make them stronger. Without going to a SAS as well.
