Seat cushion repair
has anyone had to replace the seat cover on a 4th gen?
i have leather seats and was wondering how hard it is to replace the cushion cover. since the tear is on the side as you get in the truck, i was thinking i could swap with the passenger side and the tear would be hidden by the center console. ??

You've got to be joking!
went to the dealership just to see about getting a relacement for the lower seat cushion. 1 leather, Stone colored cover, $1022. WTF is up with that?
Its not like they're RECAROS.

If the 4gens are anything like the 2gens it isin't too major a deal just a RPITA.
start by removing both front seats from the truck. next you will need to remove the plastic trim on the sides of the seats. you should now be able to see the four bolts that hold the seat pan to the frame [note they may be hidden below the leather/fabric] just unscrew them and swap away.
note: if you have power seats the attachment points may be different left/right. in this case you may have to remove the hog rings [that's what they're called] and switch the seat covers themselves.
this could be an involved job if you're not sure any upholstery shop should be able to handle it for you relatively cheaply.
Hope this helped Aviator

new leather seats
If the dealer quoted you $1022 for a one new seat bottom cushion that's enough to buy you new leather for all seats. One important thing to note, before unscrewing the 4 screws for each front seat make sure you unplug the negative battery terminal and wait a few minutes. This will prevent airbag deploy. Other than that you will want to remove both seats as stated before. You might want to invest in hog ring pliers $7 very easy to use, and a box of a 100 small hog rings, prebent. Also you can use a big set of electrician pliers or similar to remove hog rings on the covers that you are taking off. You can just place pliers around old hog ring and twist firmly to remove. If you swap driver and passenger seat you will need to make a few cuts, however the new cuts should be hidden when re-installed. The plastic cover (with the electrical/manual seat adjustments) will hide any area needed to be cut.
