Map light question

It not in my manual, and I can't find it anywhere else.

How do I get to the the map light bulbs in my 2007 4Runner??? I can't figure it out. I need to put in either a red bulb or red brake light tape on one of the lenses. I need a dim red light for some tasks.

I don't know how close in comparison the 4Runner is to the Tacoma. For the Tacoma, there's a little notch in the lens where you can insert a narrow, sharp object in order to pull down and out the cover (be careful if you use a screw driver cause it'll scratch the plastic). Basically, anything narrow enough to fit behind the plastic lens (outside end of the lens), then pull down slowly and carefully.

Once you get the cap off, then the bulb is exposed. If its anything like the Tacoma, it's a bitch to pull out the bulb. I used a screwdriver and a set of tweasers to grip, wiggle and eventually pull the bulb base out. In theory, the 194/168 bulb should just pull down and out, but I had to work on mine a bit to get it to come loose. Again, gentle force is necessary unless you want to break the bulb.

Thanks! I figured it out yesterday, I used a little Swiss Army knife blade. The bulb came free with a little push to the side. I also found a red 194 bulb and it works perfectly for my needs. One red maplight to preserve my night vision, and one regular for everything else.
