Maintenance Required Light
2011 Tacoma:
Did my first oil change at 3K. I tried to do the oil change maintenance light reset at that time but nothing seemed to happen (The light was not on yet).
Now I'm rolling up on 5K and the MRL is flashing for a few seconds after startup.
The reset procedure still doesn't seem to do anything.
So...Is it the case that the MRL can only be reset after it has come on solid?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Just turned 5K on the odometer.
Maintenance Required Light is now on solid but the reset procedure isn't working.
My book says to:
1) Flip the odometer over to show total mileage.
2) Turn the ignition to OFF.
3) Hold down the odometer reset button.
4) Turn the ignition to ON while holding down the reset button.
5) Wait for the odometer to show 000000.
What am I doing wrong?

Alright, figured it out...
The owners manual is wrong.
The correct procedure is:
1) Flip the odometer over to show TRIP A.
2) Turn the ignition to OFF.
3) Hold down the odometer reset button.
4) Turn the ignition to ON while holding down the reset button.
5) Wait for the odometer to show 000000.
That worked. Apparently the procedure was changed for 2011.
Looks like it can be done anytime regardless of the light status.
