Loud window "pop" when rolling down drivers window on 2006 4Runner

Hey everyone, 1st post here. Just picked up my "new" 2006 4Runner 2WD (73k miles) on Saturday and I'm already in love with it! Now onto the point...I'm usually pretty good about checking out small things when picking up used vehicles but for some reason, I didn't check out the windows before I traded in for this vehicle. When I got home, I rolled down the drivers side window and about halfway down there is a loud mechanical "pop" from inside the door. It makes a much less loud (but still audible) sound when rolling it back up, or back down if you do it without much pause in between.

However, if you let it sit awhile, and then roll it back down the first time down still makes a very loud popping sound. Sounds almost like it's trying to jump off track, but it still goes up and down at the same rate as all of the other windows, seals fine at the top, and is not loose (from what I can tell). Just curious if this is a sign that something is about to go wrong--like the window shattering, or being stuck in the down position.

I've already learned a lot of cool stuff here, so thanks for that, but in searching I didn't see anyone else mentioning a similar problem. Any advice would be most appreciated!

I'm not a mechanic and have no experience with a problem like this, but if it was mine I'd remove the door panel and try to figure out why it's making that sound. Maybe the regulator is loose or catching on something. I also wouldn't operate it until it's fixed.

Sorry about that...being new, I didn't know that this forum was mostly for the older trucks.

Its not just for older toyotas. That just seems what a majority is here.

There is some newer vehicle owners though. Regardless i don't see how a power window issue may be present on your rig, that a 2nd/3rd gen may have not experienced before.

Welcome to YT!

https://share.icloud.com/photos/075q...1v2uJ_4OVbUssA

Ran into same issue after new install of door check, popping failed to cease. Picture above shows modifications and video below shows details of mod. About a 45 min job with proper tools.

Enjoy y’all!
