hit curb with 4 day old 4runner. DAMN!

I just got my hands on a new 2007 4runner (2wd) and hit a curb not even a full week after it was purchased. I'm still mad at myself and feel like such an ass. but anyway, I have a question about the effects of the hit. I was in a parking lot going about 7 mph and I made a right turn and I felt my back right tire rub against the curb. My 4runner did rock slightly (but no hard thump). Now when I drive and let my steering wheel go, my 4runner does go to the right sometimes. So is my alignment messed up? Is it possible to mess up the alignment with the rear tires, especially with such a minimal curb hit? I thought alignment issues are usually because of problems with the two front wheels. Any info helps. Thanks in advance.

I'd stab myself in the neck with a spoon for being soo stupid.

If there are no obvious signs of damage I'd take it back to toyota and have them do a alignment. You can get one for free if it pulls as long as it has less then 12.5k on it, if it's not bent.

Edit: your likely just feeling road crown, but you have a warranty, don't be scared of it

it happens. Take it back to the dealer for alignment as mentioned above.

7 miles an hour hitting a curb parallel to your direction of travel. And no bang, just a thump?

Can't imagine you could damage anything other than the tire or the wheel in that situation. Check your right rear rim, check your tire pressures. No way can the damage be significant if the accident was as you describe.

You are suffering from the first ding syndrome. Happens on every new car, especially your first.

And be careful... it may rain in your area soon.

no bang and not really a thump, the curb made my 4runner rock a little. lol yea i kind of agree with that first ding syndrome.

i think i'll take it to the dealership to have it check just to be safe.

rowdy235, wow 300k+ miles toyota... that's awesome. you must have changed oil, serviced, etc on the dime.

Thanks everyone for the info.
