Another roof rack question.

I spent 2 hours reading all the roof rack treads. It came to conclusion that 99% you guys up here whom have roof rack chose Surco Safari rack.

I saw this safari rack from Dee Zee manufacture. What do you think? Should I get this one or Surco. I saw lots of great feed back regarding Surco rack. It sales for $259 from Costco.com. I saw other places go for $350.

I don't have any experience with the Surco racks but I did have the Yakima Mega Warrior early in my days on the 4runner. It was nice and was able to hold a lot of gear (keep in mind the weight limitation on the stock racks though). The only downside to having a rack up there was the fuel consumption. It ate a good 2mpg

Crap!!!! I will have bigger tires install this weekend too. Tires (285x70x17) and roof rack will cost me about 4 mpg.

When I had the rack I had 285's and I was floating around 12-13mpg. This was my crusing speed (70-75) to San Diego (which is where you're going btw for that trip is Nov).

12-13 mpg still better than my previous truck Titan. I got 8-10 mpg out of that baby. It had 8" suspension lift and 35" Toyo M/T. Are you going to be there at the camping?
