Struts and wheel bearings are two totally different issues.

Probably worn ass out struts.

I believe these have the same front wheel bearing setup as the 05-up tacoma and when they fail they make a heck of a racket. I replaced both on my first 05 at 74k miles and when I bought my current 05 with 112k on it 2 years ago the front wheel bearings were so shot you couldn't hold a conversation in the truck without yelling over 30MPH. But that's OK as it was a recent trade-in at a Toyota dealer and that horrible noise got me 05 double cab trd 4x4 for really short money. You can change them at home if you have a hydraulic press. You can use the spindle to hold the assembly to press out the hub then the bearing bolts to the spindle. Don't forget to change the seal where the axleshaft rides on the back of the spindle. On 3 of the 4 of these I've changed that seal was smoked and it allows water and debris to attack the bearing. On Tacoma forums I've heard of guys changing bearings every 20k miles after the originals wore out. And they never change that seal. Coincidence? I think not.
