04 SR5 Runner What tire/rim fits after Revtek lift? tried search.

Hey gang, I have searched thru numerous post and can't find a difinitive answers.

I am installing a Revtek 3" lift on my neighbors 04 4 runner SR5 this weekend. Any hints tips? This is the first time I have done a lift. I have studied the instructions and it looks straight forward. We are renting a spring compressor and a tie-rod end remover. will the one spring compressor work for front and back or do we need to rent both types?

He has the stock tires that came with the truck 265's mounted to the stock 17" rims. He wants to know if an AT type 285/70/17 will definitely fit without having to do any trimming at all (this is his wifes main DD). I have read numerous posts but can't get find a definite yes or no. He does not take the truck off road at all so he does not want a MT only an AT. The lift is just for apperance only (don't ask it is not mine).

He also asked if he could put different rims on in a 16" size to aid in the tire selection. I saw that there is an issue with the backspacing and caliper interfearence. Is this correct? Are there different rims with different backspacing that will work? He doesn't want to add spacers if that is what it takes.

1. tips/tricks for installing lift
2. Will AT type 285/70/17 fit on stock rims without rubbing or triming anything.
3. Can 16" rims fit, if so what is the proper rim sizes to clear the calipers.

Thanks for the help.

1. installation is straight forward
2. 285's will rub. try 275's or stick w/ 265.70.17 or 265.75.16
3. 16's will fit on SR5 model. I had 16x8 4.5BS 0 offset.

good luck

Agreed with GoodTimes.
1. I can't suggest you anything. Never installed Revtek
2. 265/70-R17 – fit, no problem; 275/70-R17 - minor plastic trimming; 285/70-R17 - major plastic and some metal trimming
3. 16" will clear the rotors and calipers on SR5; Sport and Limited have large ventilated brakes, so some 16" rims are not fitting, some does (seen both).
