'04 4Runner speedometer issue
New to the forum. My daughter recently bought a 1 owner '04 4Runner with 191,000miles. I drove it for a few days and noticed the speedometer isn't accurate. I did a little research and didn't find anything conclusive, but I had a similar experience with a different vehicle, so I replaced the speed sensor in the transmission just to see if that would help. Didn't fix it. She had to leave town so my work could not continue. She is currently on the road to her home far far away and has reported that the speed displayed on the dash is all over the place. It was only off by a few MPH when I was in the car, but she reported traveling at 72mph while the display showed 87. On one occasion she sent a pic showing the needle at 27mph while she was completely stopped, then when she opened the door the needle fell to 0. Next stop the needle was at 4mph after opening the door, so the issue is very inconsistent. I'm starting to think there is a grounding issue, but I thought I would ask some experts their opinion before she starts spending money to have this issue diagnosed.
Thanks in advance for your help.
