yet another back window problem

Hey guys i was hoping I could get some input on this window issue.

The back door light is on, it goes off if you give the back door a good push in. It worked about a month ago when I bought the vehicle, but now it is stuck in the up postion.

When I press the down button it makes a clicking noise (relay?)

Also, the back wiper does not work. If you turn it on it will move from the neutral position to the glass itself, but will not wipe, nor will it move to its resting postion (Must be done manually)

Any ideas? Im thinking ill have to pull it all apart, which sucks because it wont roll down in the first place

edit: this is probably important.. if i put the key in the back door and turn it the wiper will move from its resting place onto the glass, but the window doesnt move. I can hear a clicking noise from outside sounding like it is coming from the high brake light (1994 model, hate that ugly thing)

edi

You'll need to be more specific about the clicking sound. Is it a repeated clicking or a one time deal? If it's repeated, most likely a broken tooth on the gear, if it's a one time sound I'd look at the door and wiper retract sensors as the culprit. My guess is if it's the gear, you could move the window down manually a "smidge" and it will continue down once the gears mesh.
2 years ago I got sick and tired of the intermittent up-down of my first gen runner and hard wired the motor up to the factory dptp switch. It has never let me down since.

I ended up installing a new switch and bypassing the relay. After swapping the module for the back window/wiper with one I knew worked, there was no improvement. Next I tried the switch in the cockpit.. verified it was working.. it must have been on of the safety things.. a connections somewhere.. it was beginning to get tedious so we decided to wire it up so I'll never have trouble again.
