wobbly shifter...automatic transmission
i realize this is my first post, so my name is ryan and i have a 92 4runner that i picked up last night, it has 287xxxkm's and loaded, black on grey, its perfect in every way except the shifter, its an auto and the entire shifter bezel is off and needs to be replaced, but the shifter is extremely wobbly right now, is it wobbly when the shifter bezel comes off? or is the linkage for the shifter loose? the tranny shifts fine and it engages in all gears so im thinking something in the linkage is loose, anybody have any ideas? thanks

the shifter bezel has nothing to do with it being lose, there are about 5 bolts that hold it down to the chassis and then it has what looks like the shift point that might be cracked welds or bad bushings,

Don't know of a source for brand new replacement parts except a dealer but here is a link with multiple sources for used parts:

Also check the classifieds, members are always parting vehicles out...

there are rubber bushings that dry rot over the years leaving the shifter linkage loose. toyotapartseast.com or toyotapartszone.com has all the parts break down images. here is the breakdown for my 89 4runner shifter.

the item number in the picture for the part i am talking about is 33501g. put in your vin # on the site for your specific truck.
