Windows shot out help?
So I woke up from a nap today and some jackass with a bb gun shot out the windows in my 4runner and firebird. So how difficult is it to swap out the drivers side rear glass, the one that rolls up and down? I need to fix this asap, and am going to assume it will cost a lot of money to have a glass place replace the glass. I won't know till monday, cause they are all closed. I have to find a way to fix this cause I have to be to work monday at 2am. Would it be easier to swap out doors? or just the glass? I have power windows and locks, I am assuming I'd have to disconect all these wires. Any help would be great.

You just need to take the door panel off and unbolt the window from the regulator. And then line the new window up and bolt it to the regulator. The only unplugging you will need to do is the control panel on the door if it has one. no need to replace the door.

Ther reason I asked about the door removal is cause I found some one selling a whole 92 4door 4runner for 500 dollars doesn't run, but is a whole 4runner. So I thought it might be easiert o swap the whole door.

Sounds like a good deal to me for parts. As long as you have a place for a 2nd runner........

Lmao, reminds me of what happened to me. Little punks did the same exact thing, only it hit my tailgate window instead. Well, stead of buying a new glass window (woulda been bout $150-200), I bought a piece of 1/2" lexan (24"x48" is real close to the size of the runner's rear window. Think it was 20.5"x46.75 or something), took some measurements, and cut it to spec with an angle grinder with a diamond blade (cut it like butter!). Anyhoo, dunno if you know it, but 1/4" lexan is about 250 times stronger than glass. Well, that 1/2" thick lexan is damn near bulletproof. Took a baseball bat and hit it full strength, and not a scratch. Anyhoo, punks tried to shoot out my window again about 2 weeks later. The BB ricochetted, and hit his little friend in the eye. The kid who got shot in the eye fell off his bike, broke his wrist trying to catch himself, and the kid who was the shooter ran over his buddy's bike, flew over his handlebars, and knocked a tooth or two out on my curb. I laughed my ass off sooo hard. But I was nice, I called 911, they brought out a ambulance and a policeman. I decided not to press charges, seein as how they paid for it with their blood. Ahh... Nothin like seein criminal mischief go awry

Got the lexan sheets at home depot. Think it cost me bout $110 for the .5"x24"x48" sheet. Cut to spec with either a dremel or angle grinder equiped with a diamond blade (used for cuttin metal, concrete, stone, tile, etc). Some people will tell you to mask off the sides, and its true when using any other tool, but when using a diamond blade with an angle grinder, it just flows through it like a red hot knife through soft butter and leaves no barbs, spikes, etc.

No home depot around here... and lowes consistently lets me down by not having things that I want when I want them. The only problem with the Lexan, I realized today as it was 35F outside and raining, is that I won't have the defrost option anymore. and that would just suck, especially when it gets to be -30. So until I fulfill my dream of moving somewhere where it's never winter?? Probably not such a good idea.
When I bought it it was soo scratched from being put up and down and windshield wiped and whatnot. 85% of my 4runner looks like new, the rest looks like crap!

Well I suggest you find a wrecked 4runner like i did with the whole back tailgate and pull it and install it. Were are you located? I have an extra that I'm selling soon. Won't ship though cause can't guarantee the glass won't get broken.

I'm on the opposite side of the country unfortunately. I haven't really tried finding one around here since it's almost winter and I don't want to be screwing around with it in the cold.
