Where is the speed sensor on the trans

My 87 toyota with an auto trans 22re, stopped shifting by its self. Trans works great but it is totally manual shift. Has this happened to anyone else? I put a different speedo in it and still the same, that is why i'm thinking its the one the trans. Where is the speed sensor on the trans?

Thanks

On my V-6 it is right where the rear driveline bolts on on the T-case output.

As far as switching speed sensors, yes, I'm running an electric sensor in a transfer case that came with a mechanical sensor originally. It seems to be doing just fine so far.

Speed sensor #1 is in the instrument cluster. Speed sensor #2 is on the driver side of the tranny near the back. The pic above is showing the transfer fluid temp sensor, which is on the passenger side at the back.
