I have an 89 4X4 SR5 Pickup. When I bought it new, it came with the standard steel rims. I would like to upgrade and install a set of the factory Mag wheels. My owners manual calls out for 15X7JJ or 7-JJX15. I am looking at a set which is 15X7JJ-8. I understand that the 8 is the offset, and that is in millimeters and positive. Will these work on my truck, and what will the 8 do or not do for me?

 

In the 4x4 world, we use the measurment called "backspacing"

baisicly you lay the wheel flat on the ground (mounting surface up), lay a board across the rim (not touching the tire), then measure from the bottom of the wood to the mounting surface.

Stock backspacing is 4.75" the less backspacing you get, the further your tires stick out. Im running a 15x8" steelie with 3.5" backspacing.

As long as you stay close to that backspacing, should have no problems.

Holy old thread, but I am trying to get an answer to the same question. I have an inbound '86 pickup and i think the factory sr5 wheels are 15x7 +15. Can I use a 15x7 +8 from the second gen 4runners? Based on my experience with wheel offset, the latter (+8) will just push the wheels out another 7 mm which is ok with me. Am I correct?
