I'm going to be putting my transmission back into my truck and would like to know what's the thread pitch and size of the transmission bolts? I saw a posting a while back that Goat did where he cuts the heads off of some old transmission bolts and uses them as guides to mate the engine and trans. I just don't have two extra stock bolts to use. Picking up a transmission jack as well today...

 

You can measure the thread diameter and distance between the threads and find out. They're probably 10mm or 12mm, and likely 1.5mm thread pitch, but I'd measure one of yours to find out. You could also take one of yours to your local bolt supplier and compare.

I've done the same thing in the past and it really helps.

 

I don't know what motor/trans combo you are referring to exactly, but from what I have been able to find on the 3.0/R150 they are 12x1.25. I just picked up some longer ones for mounting engine on stand, but have not confirmed them yet.

 

Honestly dude, this is why there are the dowel pins. Thest will guide you so you don't HAVE to use the bolts to line it up and pull it together. These engines/trans will slide right in together, and if they don't there is something wrong or off. I'd HIGHLY recommend against forcing it, or chances are you will break something. The tranny jacks have all the handles/threaded rods to adjust the thing front/back, side/side for a reason.......
