What's a good head gasket!??!

I just bought a new head for my 22re and I was wondering if there is a better head gasket to use than the one they sent w/ the head. Like maybe a thicker one to compenate for the carbon build-up on the pistons? Or just a better quality one that wont take a crap on me in the summer here in Phoenix. Any advice would be awesome guys! THX!

The Rock gaskets that engnbldr sells are a great piece. The minute bit of carbon on your pistons isn't making enough of a difference to worry about. And if it really bugs you, take a wire brush to the top of your pistons while the head is off.

I could probably find a good quality gasket, but I just wanted to find out if anyone had any tips or things I should know.

I haven't yanked the head off yet, but be assured, I'll get every bit of carbon off of those babies. It was pinging so bad I had to advance the hell out of the timing to stop it.

when i was buying my head gasket, the guy offered me Rock aftermarket head gaskets. I asked where it was made and he told me Taiwan. I asked if he had any set made in Japan so he sold me a Stone head gasket. Looks pretty solid. I'm not sure of the quality, but maybe someone else could explain the differences in quality?
