What are these for?

Passenger Side

Driver's Side

What are thsese holes for. They almost seem to be another way of mounting the engine. I'm trying to make 22re mounts mesh with 3vze mounts. I know the angles are slightly different so I'll end up modifying the the mounts to correct the angle. The tape measure tells me that the passenger mount will bolt up to those holes and line up nicely with the v6 frame mounts. It looks like the the knock sensor can be relocated to where that pipe plug is circled in yellow. The driver's side mount won't bolt to those holes but I'm willing to modify them to make it bolt up. The Water pipe can be rerouted as well if it makes the motor mounts any easier. Any thoughts?

Are you trying to bolt a 22RE in a V-6 frame? If this is a 22RE the the holes are for engine mount placement for 4WD and 2WD frames. The 4WD ones sit on the fwd holes. That plug is where the 2WD oil sender goes. On my '86 I pulled that plug and put in another oil sender.

Yes BigBluePile that is exactly what I am trying to do. Thanks for the info. I think I need to go find some 2wd mounts then. Anyone willing to take a couple of pictures of 2wd 22re mounts for me(Preferably from a 3rd gen pickup). This could make things much easier. Thanks again for the help BigBluePile thats just the kind of thing I was hoping to hear.

L33T35T 4Runner:
I think he is talking about the small pipe plug circled in yellow in the first pic(kind of hard to tell because of the paint and being partly covered by the chain link. On a 2wd model it looks like the plug would be where the knock sensor currently resides. I'm not sure on the thread size though.

In the first photo where Leprechan use the yellow to circle the plug. It's in between the 4WD engine mount on the right side. It's the same thread as the aft oil boss for the 4WD oil sender. It should be 1/4" NPT.

You don't have the mounts off that 22RE? Hmmm, if you did you should be able to use those. The mounts should be the same between the 4WD and 2WD.

The holes circled in red on the driver's side are a little bit different in hole spacing compared to the the holes that the mount is currently bolted to. I'm thinking that the 2wd driver's side mount may be slightly different.

Well you got me there, tried to look it up in my FSM with no luck. I'm curious as to what you bolt in!

A trip to the junkyard may be in my future. Theres a 2wd 3rd gen pickup with a 22re there that I'm going to take a look at. I might even get the mounts while I'm there.

I'd assume the mounts are similar. If the 2WD one are smaller, I don't know if I'd use them. Just me though!

I looked at that 3rd gen pickup today and it uses the front mount holes. They had a couple of older pickups with 22rs and they used the front holes as well. I'm really starting to wonder what these are for. Anybody know if they are for celica mounts? Any help appreciated

I haven't been able to find any mounts that will bolt up to these holes and v6 frame mounts so I decided to make some. But when I removed the engine from the previous vehicle I forgot to measure the angle it was mounted at. I would like to get it as close to stock as I can. So would anybody be willing to get me the degree measurement as illustrated below on a 4wd pickup/4runner with ifs and a 22re? Also does anybody know what the maximum angle is that won't cause problems?

using the same gauge you have there, my 87 runner 22re is sitting at 5 degrees, you look like you have 10 there?
