what size tire should i get.

1995 4x4 pickup

I'm getting new Cooper discoverer AT3 tires. A tire shop near me has them on sale for 1/2 price. $266 a tire on for $133.00

I have new 16" rims. I'm thinking of getting 225/75/r16 tires. That would be 29" tall and 6.9" side. The stock tires are 28" tall.

I do most of my driving on the street but I like to hit the trails as much as i can. I don't want to go to 31" tires I think that would be too hard on my truck and harder on gas etc...

Or should i go LT245/75R16 they are 30" tall and 7.4" wide. I know there is not much difference in the size but any one have some input?

Thanks

What size do you have now and what is the closest size in the 16"? That just may make your decision for you.

I just put 33x12.5's on my T100 on 15" rims. I got the wheels a few hours before the tires. The rims are a little "deeper". Looks alot more aggresive. BFG AT's. Took off the front mud flaps and pounded over the pinch weld. Still rubs a tiny bit flexed while turning hard. Nothing I am worried about till it gets lifted. Just a good reason I have to lift it now. After the $1000 for the tires and the $160 for the wheels (just happened to be sitting there on sale, out of the box). Its gettin lifted for sure now. 31's are good enough. But if you want to go big without 35's, 33's rock. Gives it that 4x4 look now. Can't wait to lift it. Among other things. Been way to long since i had a nice bad ass 4x4

I have Cooper AT3 31x10.5r15 on my '88 4Runner w/ 22RE. Still get around 20-22mpg on the highway, 16mpg around town. There's no rubbing or need for lift, and they don't look too small for the wheel wells. I think 32's would noticeably affect your performance.
