yea man...dont do the locker now, and dont regear. I know form my first rig i built. I built a wrangler I swapped dana44s under it with 4:88s, lockers front and rear, 4.5 inch lift and 35s ALL AT ONCE. Its a lot of $$ and if you dont save, you will never be able to do it. For now, build a snorkel and do your diff breathers. SEARCH on here on how to make a snorkel. It isnt hard.

its funny, many dont really get past the fact that they see a SAS kit only costing them $1100 + the price of tires... when really its a giant chain reaction until you have your rig done. i've just about finished all the buying, time for the cutting and welding... this weekend is DDAY for my stock '87.
the idea: 5.29 diffs f/r ARB/spool cryo'd gears in the rear. Dual cases w/ 4.7's in the rear, TG 4" springs front and rear, frenching all spring/shackle hangers and pulling out some leafs from the springs so it sits nice and low. 40" MTRs on 17" steelies. Bob/dovetail rear, maybe tube front clip, mayyyybe lowered roofline (aka chop top) blah blah blah y'all know.. the typical yota.
so as you can see a SAS isnt really the end to a means, moreso a means to no end. my wallet has suffered for the past 2 years piling up all these parts to actually make it happen. you save money in the long run if you buy the right parts and build it right the first time. thats the point of build up threads, so thats what im doing. in the mean time ive given it it's fair share of trail adventure.

dont pay someone 2k when you can buy a 220v miller (the best) welder and all the supplied needed for half that price, teach yourself how to weld with just some scrap metal for a few weeks or an instructional video.. then do it yourself, save $1000, and then have a welder for whenever you need it.

i cant weld for e but im learning .and its helps to make a project like a go-cart or somthing. thats what i did or just go to a junk yard and get some steel and go to it with the welder.

The hardest two things about welding is getting the stick started hehe , after that you just have to keep the distance from your work constant and have a tight consistent rotating motion , other than that you need to get used to what current you use for what thickness metal you are working with , just get a few peices of 5-6' channel or angle and put them on a couple of saw horses and slide them together and run beads up and down them , it won't take you long to get a groove going on

Just take your time and get'er done , half of the card holding welders I know couldn't hold a candle to most of the guys I know that do it at home whether it be welding or common sense , if you have done all these projects then you should be fine

buy a solid front axle and build it to be ready for your SAS.
spend the rest on stuff for the rear lift to match the SAS.
Edit: A secretary just came in my cube, so I clicked reply. whoops.
What I mean is to start saving and getting parts for your SAS if u want to do that first.
also might look into dual transfer cases
I'm with you. I'm doing an SAS before any lockers, I dont want lockers that I'm not sure whether they are gonna lock or not on the road and I live in the northeast(lots of ice/snow) So I'm gonna do SAS then ARBs next fall, unless I buy a car and make my rig a trail dedicated, then I'll probly do Aussies.

mate thats not a bad idea ill start looking for that front axle.
And i don't think i will need to rais the back and more then it is if you look on the post i made about my truck its on a bit of a lean with the front t bars just about wound right up so yup thanx.

but here in new zealand you have to have a certified welder weld anything on your car prity much so yea i have to get a certie fulla to weld it for me.
