What sensor is it? Or is it??

I'm assuming it's a sensor problem. '88 4runner, sad because it's back window is having issues. Using the key in the lock/switch on the tailgate, it operates no problem at all. From the switch in the center console however it is having some problems. If the glass is all the way up, the switch won't operate it down. If the glass is anywhere from all-open to almost closed (say roughly a 1" gap) the console switch works fine, but if I try to close it all the way with this switch, closing that 1" gap not only stalls the movement, but it then won't even move back down without removing the key and going to the switch/lock on the tailgate. Long story short: There is a dead-zone of window movement (full closed to roughly 1" open) where the console switch cannot/will-not operate the window. Only the console switch is affected.

What am I missing? Why can't I figure this out. Please help me make my window work.
