I think you need to figure out what you want?
Determine a budget and stick to it.

Can you store a trail rig? if not, then will it have insurance, then it has to be street legal.

Are you wheeling that much? Is it beyond what a well equipped DD can do??

I bought my 87 over 200k miles off of Craigslist for $500. It needed all fenders and a lift in rear. But it ran so well and didn't burn any oil. Better yet, passed NJ. state inspection so it was well worth it. Oh yea, the interior looked great. I say go look at it before bidding and see how it runs. Alot of the trucks I looked at, in that age range, looked great but...didn't run as good.

Id rather be wheeling this then my Runner. The whole reason that Im looking at this is because I want a BEATER.

Ill be storing it in my driveway (which is very long and far away from my street, or in my garage.

Yeah thats one of the things im thinking of
"great shape run good body " so many possibilities there.
I think I am going to try to look at it, I mean the body isnt quite AS important to me, the frame and how it runs are more importnt.

But even still, im gonna try to go see it

agreed. figure out what you want before you make any big decisions. there will be more 1st gens to come along, and unless you've got extra money you just want to spend, be patient.

My 2 pennies: why go w/ a 1st gen runner??? when you could go for a 1st gen hilux? You'll get a solid front axle which will equate to a whole lot more options when building it for a beating.
(i know 1st gen pickups are hard to find, and their frames are all rusted out, but if you have the patience and the time, you can find one)

Ive always wanted a 1st gen runner, and by the time that I get hardcore enough to NEED a SA, i could do a swap.

Ok, heres my new question, I understand what you all think that I should do, but what do you think about THAT runner, not what I should do. Thanks

That runner looks like it would make a super fun beater truck! It matches your criteria in every way. Go test drive it, if it runs well buy!

it is going to be problems. Especially if you have limited mechanical abilites.

A beater doesn't neccesarily mean cheap. You want it to be reliable and strong. That takes a little time, pateince and money.

check the classifieds for the 87 turbo single cab.....

you want something that is reliable platform. An old beater with 200+k on the clock is nothing I would want to wheel.

Why not email the seller and ask him to post more pics especially in the daytime?
Ask him some more specifics.
