What have some of you done to modify your air filter on the 3.0? I have read some post that says the 3.0 does not get enough air. I am guessing you go to a KN but do you get rid of that box and what about the air meter?

Do a search on the ISR mod and the deckplate mod, also checkout the tech writeups.

Do not get the K&N, not worth it.

I 2nd that. Plus it is reported that the K&N lets more dirt through, thereby shortening engine life.

I would imagine the K & N FIPK kit seems like an efficient unit, or at least it looks like it to me. Mind you we know it only gets like 3 HP on their DYNO test, at 4400 RPM (which to me says in the more "useable" HP ratings around 2000-3000 RPM's it's probably like 1-2 HP, which is dick all considering these things cost around $200-250 US funds). This to me suggests that perhaps it's not that the 3.0 isn't getting enough air, it's that it probably can't push exhaust out fast enough. Therefore, and I don't have dyno's to prove it, but personally what I have just pointed out to me says you might be better off starting from the ass end (exhaust) and working backwards, at least for the money anyways. Start with an exahust system. I will put money down that an exhaust system, for the money, would be a wiser investment, than an FIPK, to start with. Perhaps if it doesn't "breath" to suit your liking after an exhaust system, then maybe you might not be getting enough air, and maybe then something like drilling your air box, or an FIPK, might compliment your exhaust system.
