Well... I'm back
Back when I first did my headgasket on my 1990 22RE, I had a striped out spark plug hole(number 4). That the machine shop then proceeded to mess up even more.
I installed a time-sert and everything was great for awhile.. Well on my way home from work today the number 4 spark plug blew out while I was going 65MPH.. Great.
I'll be getting a new(used) head for $75 at a pick and pull, as I am on a pretty tight budget. And I was wondering.. Would it benefit me at all to get a new cam from engnbldr while its apart? I do have a little extra money, just not enough for a RV head and cam.
I'll post some picks tomorrow.. Good to be back to yota tech I've been spending all my time over at Diesel Place since I got my GMC Diesel.

I don't tow with it so no worries there. I was just wondering if a cam might help me a little more on starting out a little quicker. And maybe gain me a mpg or two.
Also while I'm in there this time I AM doing the EGR and PAIR delete. I have absolutly no use for them.
How thick of a plate should I use to make my block off plates?

Alright cool, thats good to know. Thanks!
I might be getting a complete engine and a bed for the truck for around $450. It depends on how many miles are on it and what the bed looks like. I'm going to look at them tomorrow. I'll take some pics and post back for sure.
If the bed isn't better then what I have now I'm just going to go for the $75 head.

Well I got my new(used) head from the salvage yard today. The truck I pulled it off of had a rotted frame and the timing chain wore a big a$$ hole in the front cover. but the head gasket was OK. I'm going to clean it up real good and check for straightness. If all goes well I'll have it on sometime in the next week or so(depending on work)
I think I'll be using my old cam as the one in the new(used) head feels kinda rough.
I'll post up some pics tomorrow!
