Weird Noise While in 4wd
So the other day I was driving in variable conditions on the highway and the 4runner was in 4wd. After a little bit the front end started to make some weird noises. Sounded like a moan and grind. The noise went away when I pulled over and took it out of 4wd and has driven fine in 2wd since then. My question is. What components could be damaged and how do I check to see which ones are toast? Any help is appreciated. Oh yeah its a 1989 4runner 3.0.

2WD hubs unlocked = no noise

Spindle bushing (brass bushing where CV axle goes through the spindle). Lots of problems with it lately - apparently cold weather brings it out.
