Weight ?

Anyone know what the weight limit is for an 88 4runner's hard top? I'm looking to put a RTT on and I'm not sure if it will hold the tent plus 2 people. I have seen other post on here about a 4runner with a soft top doing it, but I want to try to do it with the hard top. I just don't want this top breaking with me in the tent. I think the top may be rated for 150 lbs when driving but what about when parked? Any ideas, thoughts, or max load number would be awesome. Thanks.

250 lbs. Tent and two people would be too much IMO.

Is there any way I can make a RTT work or make the top stronger?

theoretically, you could drill a couple holes in the top, and make supports that go through the roof and distribute the weight to the roll bar inside. get crafty with some 2" pipe clamps and silicone the penetrations shut after it's done.

use the rain gutters over the doors and slider windows to mount roof rack bars at the front, and at the middle. then you'd have 6 mounting points, 4 to the gutters for the front, and two to the rollbar for the back, with no weight on the fiberglass topper.
