Water pump gasket question

Hey guys: I got this gasket with my Aisin water pump. Generally I blue rtv both sides of the gasket, but this one has a rubber ring. How do you guys suggest installing this type of gasket?

I am guessing that is a 3.0 gasket? I like the idea of the rubber seal on it. I personally would put a thin coat on both sides. I have not done a 3.0 water pump gasket but some one with experience on it will give better advise.

Aisin parts are oem and Toyota did not put rvt on it from the factory. So I would say no to the rvt. If it was a paper gasket that's a different story.

The gasket that came with the AISIN WP is a fine gasket. It's been installed as-is without RTV or any other additional goop on several 3.4 WPs I've done and never have had a single issue. I see no reason why the performance on the 3.0 will not be the same.

Do what ever makes you happy.

If you don`t do the blue silicone I myself would wonder every time I went some place is now the time it starts to leak.

I know in my case it is all physiological

We all have our on thing Just like I refuse to weld on a vehicle without removing the negative battery terminal.

I went without the blue sealant. I'll report back after I start it up tomorrow, and again if it leaks in the future.

I have little to report because it's been parked pending locating the leak in the back of the engine. I thing it's the number 1 bypass tube.
