Booger

My w56 is making that whining noise in 1,2,3,and 5 gear so after researching some say its the input shaft bearing. So I got the tranny out of the truck and took off the front housing to get to the bearing, I had to tap the housing off all the way with a rubber mallet. I inspected the bearing and have decided that it is bad, so I went to put the housing back on the tranny till I got the parts for it and it is really hard to get it over the bearing I tried with the rubber mallet like the toyota manual says but didn't want to break anything so I stopped. I got the bearing pulled off the shaft, so I tried to put the bearing in the housing to see how tight it is, Darn thing is supper tight. I am wanting for the new bearing to try it in the housing and see if it fits better. My question is is the housing that hard to push over the bearing .
