Vent/return lines? Which is which

Getting ready to reinstall the fuel system in my truck.....which is which on the tank? Does it matter? I'd rather not have to pull the pump assembly just to identify the 2 ports.

Yes it matters.

WIth the pump wired, lay a rag near the pipes and have a buddy cycle the ignition switch for a second. The one that sprays is the output.

I have no idea if blowing into them will tell you what you need to know as I have never tried it therefore do not know what to expect.

Cycling the ignition will def tell you which is which.

If you fear of a little bit of gas hitting a rag, simply place a rubber hose on each and run them to a bucket then cycle the ignition.

The send line is easy. it's bigger and has a flare nut on it. I'm asking about the other 2 as they look identical.

That was the first place I looked.

I had a thought at work today, though. There's still a bunch of gas in the tank. So I blew in the 2 lines, one of them made a bubbling sound......
