VAM testing.....How?

Hello all!
I've been trying to run down the problems I've been having with my 3.0 as per suggested course of action. I'm at testing the VAM. Thing is, I'm not sure of the procedure in the FSM. What does the temp. have to do with testing the resistance on the Ohm meter? Are the terminals to be tested when the motor is at the specified temp's?

If anyone has done this or knows anything about it, I'd could use some instruction. I haven't turned up any info I could use in a search. Maybe I'm not using good keywords????
Thanks!

Thats for the air temp sensor, the air temp sensor monitors the incoming air temperature. The hotter it is the less resistance.

When I tested mine, my engine was cold and had been sitting overnight pretty much... So I took the resistance values I got and converted the resistance to the outside...

The resistance on mine was about 1.6k ohms, which by looking at the chart in the FSM, you can figure mine was ok, as the outside temp was about 90* and thats pretty relative to the air temp.
