Valve cover gaskets

I am going to be doing the Valve cover gaskets on my 3.0 next weekend. Is there any particular brand of gasket to avoid or one that is better than most? I've only heard about Felpro mostly. Thanks.

ya

I had good luck with the felpro valve cover gasket set on the last 2 applications. Their head gaskets can be questionable but I think they have a good rep for pretty much all other engine gasket applications.

alternatively, you are in good hands going to engnbldr.com for all of your gasket needs.

I used OEM gaskets on mine. If I remember correctly, they were only about $8 or $10 for the 2. You also need a little tube of that gasket stuff. Just put a little dab of this stuff in the corners where the flat surface meets the hump at the back of each head.

I second the use of OE valve cover gaskets. Why take a chance, especially if it's such a time consuming task.

Here' my write-up:

My mech said he has been having problems w/felpro valve gaskets leaking. They used felpro when the did the valve job and I had to bring it back because the valve gaskets started leaking. They ended up using OEM. It didn't cost me anything extra, except my time but if I were you I would go with OEM.

from my experience of doing the valve gaskets, use only OEM on these vehicles. make sure NOT to use any type of gasket stuff as mentioned (again from my experience). you'll end up replacing the oxygen sensors too. that stuff has a chemical that the engine and components do not react well with. besides, the gaskets today come with a form of bond.

They make sensor safe FIPG now.
