vaccum lines and 4x4

please dont flame me, i search on here with great results and have managed to do a ton of stuff without ever having to post.

Currently my 4x4 is not engaging and indicator light is not coming on. (95 3.0)

Checked my vsv and vaccum pull and noticed that I am missing a vaccum line on the tank near the passenger fender (Fittings behind fuse box). I've got the one coming from the vsv on the bottom and a naked fitting on the top.

Can anyone tell me which vaccum line should be conected to the tank along with the line from the vsv?

I just did a 3.0 - 3.0 swap and apparently i got confused with my vac reinstal

found the problem, long vacuum lines from vsv to actuator were ruptured. apparently there was a clip for each line on the frame that prevented them from getting too close to the engine heat. I neglected to put the lines back in the clips after the swap, too hot and they melted. New vac line heat shield and we are 4wd ready.


Still looking for the answer to the missing line on the fitting behind the fuse box if anybody wants to chime in.

Here is a pic of the fitting behind the fuse box on the passenger side of the vehicle, i have the one vac line on the bottom coming from the vsv

My two cents is that this is the perfect opportunity to get rid of that ADD and its potential for problems and install manual locking hubs. You might have the inconvenience of getting out of the vehicle, but at least you know 4wd will engage. Again just my two cents.

great 2 cents, i've been in the hunt for some hubs lately, i had a deal worked out to get the set that came with the wheels and tires that i traded for but the guy backed out on that part of the deal. (good for him i was ripping him off big time)

didnt know i had a 4wd problem until i was in a hole playing around luckily low range with just the back 2 was enough

cant afford to wonder if the add will let you down when you need it

When I bought my runner, I jacked it up and tried to engage 4wd-no dice. Immediately bought a pair of mile markers and installed them forthwith. Haven't been let down since with the benefit of an mpg or 2 more.
