88-95? not really... maybe not as common as 22re standard cabs, but they're everywhere still. Remember, you could order trucks how you wanted in the early 90s.
however in 95-97. Yes, definitely. The 3.4 v6 tacoma standard cab was discontinued because the 3.4 was too much power for a standard cab.
