V6 - single 4.7 transfer, anyone put twin sticks in?

I've got a V6 Extra Cab with a single 4.7 transfer case. Was wondering if anyone has the same setup that also put a twin stick in. Looking at my setup, it looks pretty cramped with the trans shifter there.

If anyone has done it, please post up pics.

Thanks.

Well, I wasn't sure it would work.

I'm about to put a solid axle under it with a lockrite in the front. Read somewhere that if I had twin sticks, it would help when trying to manuever without having to get out and unlock a hub.

Giving this a bump. Can anyone verify that this works?

The gear shift looks like it would interfere with twin sticks.

Auto or 5Sp?
Hopefully you removed the pin in the TC to allow twins. If not, you 'll have to disassemble the case to remove it.

Heres a shot of my setup. Room is not an issue.

So, is my shift lever in backwards or something? This is in reverse. It rubs against the TC knob when I put it in.

I would say it's not in correctly, that thing is leaning back way too far!

Thanks. Twin Sticks are on they're way, so I'll make them work one way or another.

I suggest you do a little more research on some of the other forums.
Pirate4x4 or the Marlin Crawler forums are good sources for this type of information.
Yes, many do have dual transfer cases and some triple cases.
Most usually just cut another hole in the floor to pass the shifter thru but you can go the triple stick route.
One stick is to change gears in transfer case 1
One stick is to change gears in transfer case 2
and the last stick is to engage 4wd or 2wd.

I understand the concept of how the sticks work. My issue is that it appears the trans shifter will interfere (hit) the tcase twin stick.

I just went out and pulled the shifter out. It can only go in one way. Turining it 180 degrees is impossible, cause the dash is in the way.

Maybe it's because this is an extra cab, and it is bent differently? Mine has two bends in it, one that comes back slightly and to the left, and the other bends upwards.

Any difference in shifters between standard cab and extra cab, or bucket vs bench seats?

Mine hits the tc shifter also, but has an extension welded in for the body lift. I am going to wait till I go chalks before the twin sticks. Just waiting on adapters.

I had to bend my trans shifter. I opted to cut a slit to control the bend a little easier and then reweld it back up. It ALMOST hits the radio in 1st and 3rd.

Are you sure that is the right shifter for that trans? That seems awfully far back from the pictures when in 2nd or 4th, or its in there wrong.

How is the shifter seat? That shouldnt matter THAT much but I bought a new one and a socket from Marlin and it made it feel like new.

Ya, it looks like i'll be bending the trans shifter, unless I somehow find a different one that fits.

Well, if it is installed correctly, I suppose you'll have to modify it a bit. I poked around through your build thread. You should have no problem. LOL.

It's been a long time since I had my shifter out (to replace the bushings with the MC delrin) so I can't remember if putting it in backwards is even possible. I know it's possible on my Supra, but that doesn't help you!

Just wanted to put in here how I made out. I had to bend the shifter so far, that it now hits the dash in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears. Be careful about cutting the shaft and bending it. If you need to do it more than once, it might just break in half (happened twice to me).

Can't wait to go duals now, so that the trans shifter can be replaced.
