Smile It Runs

FIXED:
Cause was the injector harness for injectors 2 and 4. On my 87 22re injectors 2 and 4 are controlled by a white wire and blue wire. Injectors 1 and 3 are controlled by white/red stripe and yellow wires. Each set of wires (2 blue and 2 white) are spliced to a single wire of the color about 18" back on the wire harness. I found that the blue wire 2-1 splice had broken so a a bit of solder, shrink wrap and electrical tape later I have a 4runner that purrs along. Thanks to all who gave ideas. Very glad to have my truck back again!

mine does the same thing except i can red line it in neutral and it does fine but as soon as i put a load on it, it surges at about 2500-3000 rpm and wont go any higher any ideas?

P.S. if you block off the EGR valve going into the intake it runs like a champ wihich led me to believe it was a faulty EGR but i replaced that and it still does it

I would check the usual things first. TPS and AFM. Sounds like it might be the tps since I think that is what accounts for load on the engine.

I had the same thing on my 88. I don't like how they wired the injectors on the pre 88's.

Well done!!! As much as I love these rigs it always kills me when, after weeks of chasing potential problems, you find something as simple as a bad wire. With me it was 3 months of crap only to find out it was a leaking intake gasket.

Good job!
