Tonight I did a tune up on my 95 4runner sr5. Put in new plugs (i think the ones removed were from the factory lol), new plug wires, an oil change, and new air filter. I also put in some lucas engine leak stop. The truck ran fine prior to bringing it into the garage. And I have noticed more power after the work. But it appears to be running lean, and it idles rough. At the initial start up it poured black smoke from the exhaust. Just looking to see if any one has some advice to what to do. And also when I'm cruising and get on the gas it pours out smoke. So I'm not quite sure what to do....

 

How much Lucas did you add? What motor 4 or 6.

 

24 ounces of lucas, and its the 3.0 l v6 motor. we also changed the fuel filter too. I forgot to mention that above

 

Ok so the rough idling is gone now, but there seems to be a ticking noise that increases as I accelerate. It's heard more from the cab than from out side

 

fuel injector ticking? Get a stethoscope and check the engine.
