I was just wondering what brand and weight of differential oil you use in your trucks. Ive done some wheeling and i just would like to know because i need to change it because i probably got water or mud in it(hit some puddles)

Also how hard is it to change?

I plan on doing the extended breather mod, just have to wait till tomorrow to go to the steelership and get the part that screws into the axel.

Also, any other suggestions?

FSM calls for 90W GL5 Hypoid gear oil, and it takes 2.5 quarts.
to change it remove the plug on the bottom to drain it and remove the plug higher up to refill it.

 

Is there anyway to flush out the Diffs real good besides justing draining the oil? I'm pretty sure mine are full of mud/dirt and water.

 

High pressure gear oil, cant remember the weigh though

 

Drain it, refill it with fresh oil, run it a hundred miles or so & drain it, refill it & it's as flushed as you're going to get it unless there's some detergent trick I'm blissfully unaware of.

 

Unless you take the diff off and apart you won't really flush it out. You don't really need to. Not much stuff gets in it. Unless something is rubbing or wearing out in there its fine. Yea Fill plug up high. Drain plug down low.
