truck wont turn over need help (wiring)
hello and to get it over with I am a newb, my problem is very similar to https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f120...-start-224298/ however I know that my alternator is good(brand new, less than a day old) and I know my starter is good(i started it just fine immediately before I replaced the alternator) the alternator I bought is a gm-1 wire alternator, I have this hooked up to the factory charge wire, I don't know where the other 3 wires are supposed to go, or whether I need to replace the charge wire or not. I have the alternator successfully mounted with the correct tension on the belt.
additional info
alternator used http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/10120/10002/-1
it is a 1986 toyota pickup, 2wd, 22r carburated, no power steering, I am upgrading the alternator so I can actually use my stereo (it killed the original alternator)

won't crank., just like in the post I linked to, I have a charge light on the dash(no oil or brake light which is new) and I turn the key and....nothing it is a standard transmission with a clutch lockout, but I have the clutch fully pressed.

This might help with the wiring.

The charge lamp coming on means you're alternator isn't wired up correctly. The car should still crank though. Make sure you didn't wire it wrong creating a short and blowing a fuse....
At one point in my truck's life, someone screwed up the wiring of the alternator in my truck and melted the ground wire. Double check the small white wire with black line is grounded correctly. The yellow one goes to the alt light on the dash, the big white one goes to a link in the fusebox, then to the battery.

thanks for the info, it was a blown fuse, I have installed a separate wire straight from the alternator to the battery with a higher amp fuse (125 amp) and it works fine, however somehow I managed to lose my turn signals....guess I will check to see if I managed to blow another fuse somewhere....this truck seems to becoming more trouble than its worth....
