Trouble

Heres the scoop I just put a transmission in a 86 toyota 4x4 5 speed when my dad drove today it sputter in 1 st gear really bad then he put in reverse it ran like it was post to. Somebody told us its was the transmission wire is that correct.What is yals thoughts on this.

I have no idea how any of the connections to a manual transmission can effect how the engine runs..

The only thing you have is the back up lights.

on some of the newer transmissions you have the speedometer by wire sensor the older ones just have a mechanical cable.

then you have a switch for when the vehicle is in 4 wd.

I am willing to learn just what this transmission wire is??

If for some reason the rear brakes were locked from seized bell cranks it might spit and sputter going forward and move better in reverse
