check the shifter seat and bushing. i think it applies to that trans. they break down after time... marlin sells them.

Do you mean it cranks over and the truck moves around or it doesn't crank at all? If it's the former have someone pump the clutch while you watch the clutch fork on the tranny and see if it's moving enough. If not, check the clutch fluid and if it's low fill it up and bleed it, also check the freeplay on the pedal. If it's the latter check the safety switch on the clutch pedal (it should still start if you use the clutch cancel switch).

I always bypass clutch safety switches , I am smarter than the switch..........I think hehe.........previous post is good ..........Shift rod socket and shifter end bushing if it is sloppy and won't go into a gear completely , if you just can't get it in gear (grinding) then clutch/Hydraulic problem .

what mean if you try and start it in gear with the clutch in it just around the clutch pedal still has a little feel to it but you cant shift it into any gear you have to power shift it and shut it off when at a stop

Sounds like Hydraulic Clutch isn't depressing clutch arm to me , check your Hydraulic Clutch fluid and if it is low fill it and then from what you are saying it needs to be bled also or possibly MC or Clutch Slave Cyl. bad .
How old is your clutch by the way ?
If your hydraulic clutch is working then pedal should be working normal unless you have a bad clutch problem .
Look at Hydraulic Clutch MC & Slave Cyl first , verify all is good there and work from there

If the shifter thumps out of gear when you let the clutch out starting in 1st gear. the likely candidate is a bad syncro.

I have this problem, the marlin shifter seat made no difference, but my original shifter seat was fine.

The problem got progressively worse after switching to synthetic.

Time for a tranny replacement/repair

Mine got better with synthetic Gear Oil , virtually never happens anymore but I beleive the guys had such a thick(High Vis) oil in it that it would not stay properly lubricated I believe because after synthetic it went away

Have someone work the clutch and see if the MC/slave is even working first , if the MC and slave are working then look at the clutch and make sure its good , if it were bad the usual way it would have been slippping (if throw out bearing went bad you would generally hear that ) .
It may be your Tranny but lets hope not
